Our story
In 2020 James and Claire let out a single flat in Kirkcaldy.
There was no team and no system — just the two of them cleaning between guests, writing the welcome notes and answering the phone at eleven at night.
Guests kept coming back, and friends started asking how it was done. Today Urban Haggis Stays runs four homes across Fife, from Kirkcaldy to Dunfermline, with more than a thousand guests hosted and an average rating of 4.9 stars.
James serves in the army as an officer, which shapes how the properties are run more than you’d think: arrive late, tired and somewhere unfamiliar, and what matters is that the door opens, the heating is on and the kettle works.
Nothing is left to chance and nothing is left to a call centre three hundred miles away.
We’re half an hour from Edinburgh and a short drive from the East Neuk, so when we suggest a beach, a bakery or a walk, it’s one we’ve done ourselves.

What we're about
At Urban Haggis Stays, we look after a handful of homes in Fife, and we look after the people who stay in them.
We're big on the small things: a spotless place when you walk in, someone local who answers when you message, and recommendations that take you past the tourist trail.
Whether you're here for a weekend or a month, we want it to feel less like a rental and more like somewhere you belong for a while.
